3 Inspiring Art Challenges For Fall.
Every fall, I look forward to a variety of art-related events that occur online. I wanted to share my favorites, because they add magic to the season and get me inspired to get cozy, sit down, and draw, draw, draw!
So whether you’re bummed about summer ending or excited for fall (bring on the cool weather and falling leaves!), I think these art-filled happenings will bring some magic to you this autumn.
Inktober
(October 1st-31st, 2025)
Inktober is a month-long art challenge started in 2009 by artist Jake Parker as a way to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits.
The idea is simple: Make one ink drawing a day for the entire month of October. An official daily prompt list is released in advance, and some people follow the prompts while others forge their own creative path.
I enjoy Inktober as a viewer (I rarely work with ink or one-color illustrations myself). I love seeing other artists’ creations and the variety of art that emerges from a single prompt. There’s also something about inky drawings that captures the feeling of October and the Halloween season for me.
Here are some of my favorites from last year:
@doodlesbywei. Day 22: CAMP
@draw.rasec. Day 26: CAMERA.
@nana.jamshidi. Day 14: ROAM.
@jimijimax. Day 2: DISCOVER.
I’ve always followed Inktober on Instagram with the hashtag #Inktober or by following their Instagram account.
You’ll find lots of stunning artwork to look through, and if you’re curious, here are the prompts for this year!
Peachtober
(October 1st-31st, 2025)
Peachtober is akin to Inktober (same month, same daily prompt format), but the cuteness factor is off the charts!
The annual art challenge was created by Australian illustrator Sha'an d'Anthes (known online as @furrylittlepeach).
Peachtober invites artists to create one artwork each day throughout October based on a daily prompt list. The challenge is open to all mediums and styles, so you’ll often see more full-color illustrations here.
I adore the color and cuteness that emerge from this monthly art challenge. Here are some of my favorites from last year:
@stephbrocious. Day 31: SPIDER
@eisenwwwu. Day 30: Pearl.
@twiggydraws. Day 26: BACKPACK.
@robinlovesknives. Day 20: REST
@dboyer_art. Day 13: CAPE.
Like Inktober, I follow Peachtober on Instagram using the hashtag #Peachtober or by following their Instagram account.
Here are this year’s prompts:
Folktale Week
(Dates TBD. Typically happens in mid-November)
I couldn’t do this blog post without mentioning Folktale Week! It’s one of my favorite art challenges (though I didn’t have time to participate last year, and the same holds true for this year).
Folktale Week was created by artist Debra Styer, who launched the challenge to encourage artists to explore storytelling through illustration.
The event has since grown into a collaborative effort, with multiple co-hosts contributing to its development.
The challenge invites artists to create artwork daily for one week in November (based on a daily prompt list). Typically, artists focus on themes from folktales, myths, and legends.
I love visual storytelling, so Folktale Week is hands down one of my favorite online fall events!
Here are some favorites from last year (I also participated in this challenge a couple of times; I even blogged about it a few years ago!).
@sallyagar_design. Day 5: DEPTH.
@evelinadeeshapland. Day 4: TRAIL.
@phie_scrapbooks. Day 3: BLIGHT.
@marina_sav_art. Day 1: MIST.
Prompts are released the month prior (October). You can find more information about Folktale Week (and keep an eye out for this year’s prompts!) on their Instagram account.

I hope you have an enjoyable fall season! I’m currently working on fall-inspired pieces I plan to release this season. Until then, take a look at my other fall-inspired work, including stickers, cards, and a few prints.
